Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is often misunderstood and tricky to diagnose.  Children with ADHD are often thought to be rowdy or undisciplined because they can’t stay still. They may seem unmotivated and lacking willpower. Sometimes classmates may think the child is stupid because they aren’t keeping up.

Erin Clayton from Pathstone Mental Health explains that ADHD is a spectrum and each child’s symptoms are unique. Some kids have difficulty concentrating while others find organizing their thinking to acheive simple tasks like cleaning their room can be really challenging.  Acting out is more about being frustrated than angry.
