National Addiction Awareness Week and Community and Addiction Services of Niagara

Nov. 19-25 is National Addiction Awareness Week. This year’s message is Inspiration, Innovation and Inclusion.

National Addiction Awareness Week is spearheaded by the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction. CCSA has released a report on the cost of substance use and addiction. It found that in 2020, substance use in Canada cost $49.1 billion, largely from alcohol and tobacco. Opioid deaths accounted for $7 billion with 75% of that attributed to young people dying.
